Tiny Dragons

Jade had fun doing her Tiny Dragons class this summer. It was a month long program where she went twice a week to build confidence, listening, martial art and tumbling skills.  I signed her up for it through our community education program with UVU.  She absolutely loved it and did so well with all they asked of her.  She listened very well to her teachers--way better than she listens at home!  Every day she asks me if she can go back!

She got very good at bowing before entering the mat.  Loved seeing these little kids so trained!

They always warmed up by running a few laps...

and stretching...

Jade really loved the obstacle courses.

And she needed some help with doing somersaults...we are still working on this one at home.

Once again, poor Kiera had to stand by Mommy because she was too young.  But she really had a great time finding ways to entertain herself--just check out these pictures...

I would love to know what she was thinking just then...

Love the hair!

On the last day of her class she was paired up with a partner that really does martial arts.  Jade loved having someone to model and give all of her attention too.

Jade had to jump and hit her partner's hands before she moved them away...she loved this game!

Leg stretches

Arm wrestling...Jade had never done this before (I know I felt like such a bad Mom!) so she really enjoyed it and laughed so hard! Later that week she had to arm wrestle with Daddy and Grandma Wilson.

I was grateful they taught them a few self defense moves too.
STOP!

However, Jade is such a peacemaker, she would probably laugh just like this if someone came up to her. She thought it was hilarious!

Practicing her high blocks...Ayah!

Love how they got her attention and she did such a great job sitting in position like they told her too--with hands on knees.

Practicing her low leg blocks...

Swimming Lessons for Jade

Jade was able to take swimming lessons this summer with her friend Ellie.  We did them at the Lindon pool, which was awesome! By the time we signed up the only openings were for the 8:30am, we were a little worried it would be so cold, but the weather surprised us and it was perfect!  I was so proud of how Jade reacted to and worked with her teachers.  They were 2 teenage boys, which at first I thought would not be a good thing since her whole class was little girls--but they surprised me and did so great with those little girls.  Jade loved them and trusted them so much.

Jumping off the side...this was one of her favorite things to do as they did a little game in which the teacher said "chop, chop, timber" while pretending to chop their legs and then on timber they had to jump in the water.  Jade was finally able to overcome her fear of letting her head go all the way under the water!

Swimming like a pro...well ok, not quite, but she is getting there!

Their favorite thing to do after each lesson was snuggle up in their towels and lay out on the beach chairs in the sun to get warm!

Kiera was such a good sport as she was too young to do the lessons, she played alot with her friend Gavin or climbed around the pool deck.

Look at that long hair!

When she was out of the water, she was a little cold!

She caught me!

Practicing her leg kicks and front float...

Doing her "ice cream scoops" with her arms...

On the last day of swim lessons, they just let the kids play on all the slides and lazy river.  I was grateful the teachers stayed right with all of them.  They had an absolute blast!
Here Jade is waiting to go down the big yellow slide...

Can't wait to go on the big slide again, she had a blast!

Then it was time for a ride in the lazy river.  They just tied pool noodles around the girls so they would float, such a great idea!

Jadee did so great and her confidence just soared!
