Hair Do

Jade has been obsessed with having her hair put in pig tails lately. She loves seeing herself in the mirror but as soon as she remembers that they are up there, she pulls them right out!!! It's a full time job just putting those elastics back in! After awhile though I just give up and let her hair do whatever it wants. It has this crazy curly, wavy thing going on since it has been getting longer. Why is it when they finally get hair long enough for you to do something with, that is when they won't leave anything in??? Anyway, fun hair times to come for us!!!

Look at those curls!!

Jade also thought it would be fun to put a ponytail in sister's hair!!! Kiera is so patient with her big sister!

Cleaning

Cleaning at our house these days involves Jade helping. She is very interested in doing whatever Mommy and Daddy are doing, so we try to teach her. Here she is doing the dishes, actually just playing with the bubbles!! She had a blast rubbing them between her fingers, on her face and in her hair!

She had to sweep the floor all by herself. Look how efficient she is using both the broom and mop at the same time!

Last of all, we apparently clean the table using our yogurt! Oh well, guess it is better than paint and it's edible too!

Fence is complete!

Ben and Jade finished the gate across the driveway this past week. Our fence is finally finished and our yard is fully enclosed so now Jade can run, run, run!! Jade had lots of fun helping Daddy build the fence!

Kiera is 1 month old!

Our little girl is now one month old!! I can hardly believe how fast the time has flown by! She is still a pretty pleasant baby. However we have had some issues with her tummy. If she is not eating or sleeping then most likely she is crying. And it seems to me like it is her tummy giving her troubles because I can hear it rumbling alot. Maybe I am eating something that is upsetting her, maybe it's colic? I am not sure but hopefully we can figure it out soon. Other than that she is growing well. We love her very much and are just happy to have her here as part of our family!

Here are some one month old pics that I took...

This is usually the position we find her in when her big sister is being too LOUD!! She can definitely fend for herself! He he!

And last but not least, Jade had to get in on some of the picture taking action today. Please notice that she is sporting 2 visible hair things, her red headband and her pink hat, but underneath there are 2 more headbands. She is becoming quite the dress up queen and can be found most days with at least 2 headbands on her head and 2 more around her neck as necklaces. She calls them "pretties."

Kiera is growing so fast!

Our baby is growing so fast! She is developing well, sleeping lots, eating lots, and just being her pleasant self. Here are some fun pics of Kiera.

She got her first piece of mail today. Her Social Security letter.

She doesn't like tummy time very much right now but she is doing great at trying to lift that head. She can turn it from side to side.

She really likes to look at herself in the mirror.

Tulip Festival 2011

This year we were able to go to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point with my Mom. She had a nursing conference there and so I decided to pack up the girls and meet her there one afternoon. As a side note, it takes approximately ONE HOUR to get two girls ready to go somewhere, that includes packing diaper bags, getting ready, and loading them up!!! It was pretty rough, but hey it can only get easier right!!

These were me and my Mom's favorite tulips there. We thought they looked so cool upside down. I would love to plant those in my yard, does anyone know what they are?

Jades was mesmerized by the big waterfall and kept running up and down the hill trying to get in it.

A shot of the girls! It still amazes me that I have two!

More views of the lovely tulips...

Grandma and the girls.

We even saw a mother goose sitting on her eggs in her nest. Jade kept pointing and yelping in excitement and saying "bird."

She loved the fish, had to get right down on the ground and talk to them.
or up on a bench to view them from above...

We let Jade out to run and get some energy out but she decided it was more fun to pick up all the little rocks on the trail.

How to distract a toddler....

Lately at our house Jade has been trying to be too helpful with the baby and she is now acting out at me and not obeying as well as she used to. I know this is all due to the new baby and me having to spend so much time with her. I hope it is a quick phase as we are trying to give Jade as much one on one time as we can. Right now she is getting most of that time from Daddy, thank goodness he is so helpful! In this post I just wanted to show some of the ways to distract a toddler from mauling her baby sister...

1. Play hide and seek through the windows!

2. Give her lots of healthy snacks!! Just look at that face!

3. While heating up the pizza for dinner, let her play in the box and eat the leftover cheese! I actually did not plan this one. I had just put the pizza in the oven, left the room for a second to check on the baby and this is what I came back to! She can now reach the kitchen counters and almost everything on the table.

4. Let her eat the candy from her Easter eggs and then close them all up again. She loved to reopen them again and again and again.

5. Have Daddy build her a lego throne. This was the chair he built for her one day. She loved it, but unfortunately it was not very sturdy. But hey it worked for a minute!
