Jadee Lady loves food!

On Valentine’s Day, two days before she turned 6 months old, we gave her some rice cereal. She absolutely loved it and we had to shovel it in her mouth as fast as we could or she would cry out in protest!
It was so funny because we would fill the spoon with cereal and start moving it toward her mouth and she would flap her hands, then reach out and grab the spoon with both hands and shove it in her mouth. Then it took another minute or two to wrestle the spoon away from her in order to repeat the process all over again.
Ben and I could not stop laughing at how funny it was to watch her gobble the cereal down! What is she going to do when there are more food options available to her! We are in big trouble!
We waited until she was 6 months old as per our pediatrician’s request. He said it would help keep away food allergies. It was definitely time to start her on solids because she would sit and stare longingly at Ben and I as we ate our dinner. She watched our every little move and now knows what to do with silverware and cups. It is hilarious to watch her drink water, she laps it up with her little tongue just like a kitty!

Too Big For Some Things, Too Small For Others...

Little Miss Jade is growing up! She has almost tripled her birth weight (a feat not supposed to occur until sometime around the first birthday!), she has almost outgrown her bouncer (it now almost hits the floor when she sits in it!), swing, and car seat (was supposed to last until one year old, ha, ha!).

But she looks so little when we put her in the high-chair to eat, too little to be sitting all by herself, too little for her new “sleeping bag” (we put her in this when she goes to sleep at night to keep her warmer), too little to hold her bottle (that's what Mommy thinks)--She is becoming so independent!!

The Best Sound in the World

I bet you have been wondering what the best sound in the whole world is....well for me it is the sound of Jade's laugh. It makes me smile no matter what mood I am in, no matter what is going on. It is the best thing ever and I love to try everything to make her laugh. Enjoy this sweet video...

Fence

So after about 3 years of living in our home, we have decided it is officially time to build a fence. After a few not so nice run-ins with the neighbors (loud parties, yelling at me while I was pregnant about our sprinklers, trash in our yard, dogs being trained to do their business there, random scary people walking through our yard, teenagers stealing things out of our yard, cars running over our garden plants, and the list could go on and on, but I will stop there!)
My wonderful husband drew up the plans months ago and made a list of all that he needed to buy and do. It even kept him up late several nights because he could not stop calculating. Alas, after several sleepless nights he finally has it all figured out and made the first trip of many to Home Depot to get the supplies. I think on Saturday he bought something like 27 fence posts and stain. Then on Monday, he bought more posts and some 2x4's, also needing to be painted. We had great aspirations of painting them outside this weekend, but due to the lovely weather (rain in February!) we ended up painting them in Ben's Dad's garage. We took shifts watching Jade and each took our share of painting. Ben has figured out that we will save a ton of money doing all of the labor ourselves....so here we go!! Next big project here we come. For those of you who may not have known us back then, we completely remodeled our home and lawn when we moved in 3 years ago. See some pics below...

Cousins

On my side of the family there are only 2 grandkids, my Jade and my brother's little girl, Maddi Jo. They are almost exactly one year apart and it is so fun to see them interact. Whenever Maddi sees Jade she just points and I think tries to say baby. It is also funny because whenever Manda (Maddi's mom) holds Jade, Maddi runs right over and hops on her Mom's lap too. Sometimes I wish we could decipher what these little angels were thinking, I am sure they could teach us a thing or two. The pictures below are of these two cute cousins just chillin' in their brand new Utah State Aggie dresses that their favorite Aunt Kaeli got them for Christmas.

Frosty the Snowman

Over Christmas break we had my sister come down and visit and she informed us that she had never made a snowman!! Now, in our household that is a serious offense. Ben and I have to make at least one snowman every winter. We have been married for 3 years and have not missed a winter snowman yet. However, the secret to a great snow man is that you have to wait for that "just right" snow as Frosty would say! While Kaeli was here it snowed a perfect snow and so we put Jade down for a nap and went to work! After nearly 3 hours of back-breaking, knee-crawling work, here is our finished product. Ben helped lots too in between shoveling off the driveway. He was the muscle behind it all!

Jade woke up from her nap and we got her all bundled up to go see our creation! She did not know what to think about it. But, of course tried to lick it as soon as I held her up to it.
