Our First Family Camping Trip

In July we took our first family camping trip/vacation with Jade. It was her first long road trip (longer than 2 hours) and I have to say she did pretty well with all the sitting. We tried to travel during her nap times so that helped a bit. We went up to Lander, Wyoming with my brother's family to a place called Sinks Canyon. It was gorgeous up there and it reminded me how much I missed camping, it had been awhile!

Here is Jade on her first pit stop of the trip at Little America

Going down the slide. She was so funny because she would stop herself halfway down and try to climb out! She is quite the adventurous one!

As part of the trip, Mitch and Manda took us to Thermopolis where there is a natural hot springs. The water was amazing and felt like bath water, I wanted to fall asleep in it! They had some pretty fast water slides that we had a ton of fun on too!

The two cousins, Jade and Maddi had a lot of fun and don't they look adorable in their matching towel dresses that Grandma bought them!

Now it was on to set up camp!! We put the girls in the pack and play so we all could be free to set up camp! They had a blast just being in nature.

"Look Daddy, a bear!"

This is what they called the Sinks. It was this cave where the river of water just disappeared in to. It literally just went into the rock and you don't see it again for about a 1/2 mile down the canyon on the other side of the road. It was so bizarre!

Daddy decided to bury Jade in the sand. This was her first experience touching and playing in the sand and she absolutely loved it! She even tasted some...

Jade went bonkers when we put her in the tent, she kept crawling back and forth, back and forth to every corner. She absolutely loved being in the tent and in her pack and play (which was weird cuz she hates it at home). But there must be something that kids love about being outside. She played in it for hours.

We even got some great shots as she thought she could just go right through the sides!

My favorite!! Tastes good, yummy!

Unfortunately, our camping adventure was cut short due to some rain. But we had a blast anyway and went back to Mitch and Manda's to play some games and we still had tin foil dinners that night!

The girls took a much needed bath after camping. Needless to say they were filthy and I am pretty sure Jade ate her share of dirt!

This was our last pit stop on the way home at a park in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming. They had some great old fashioned toys that we all enjoyed playing on!
Yeehah! Ride 'em cowboy! I think we have a bull rider on our hands...

Even Daddy gave it a go!
After all that playing, this was the result! Jade traveled so well in the car, we may be able to take more vacations! Yeah!

11 months old!!

Wow!! It has almost been one year since Jade was born. I remember this time last year being big and pregnant and anticipating what it would be like to have a baby in our home. Well, eleven months have now flown by and we are hanging onto each moment because they seem to fly by so fast! We shouldn’t have blinked because our once helpless little infant is now a speedy, independent crawling machine! Some of the milestones Jade has reached this month are:

• She weighs 23.5 lbs and is about 30 inches tall!

• Jade can crawl lightning fast and get to every room in the house. She can pull open drawers and cabinets and likes to stand up to furniture. She cannot stand on her own yet but sure likes to try, which usually ends in her falling, so we keep plenty of pillows around!

• She has her 2 bottom teeth and uses them well. It is funny because she no longer just gums food to death, but rather she is experimenting with those two teeth and gnaws and scrapes at foods with them. My favorite is when she scrapes off bits of apple, she loves it and it is so cute to watch her munch on things.

• She babbles all day, “Na, na, na ,na” and “ba, ba, ba” and “da da da” and “mom.”

• can blow spit bubbles in her mouth, she does this almost all day!

• eats almost everything but cow’s milk, honey, peanut butter, and chokable foods. Her favorites are watermelon, eggs, squash, spaghetti, basically anything with a lot of flavor she absolutely loves!

She is changing day by day into a little toddler, it makes me so sad but some of her baby fat is starting to disappear!

Jade has started making many new faces and basically won't smile much anymore because she prefers these faces!! She makes us laugh everyday!!!

Say "Duck"

We took a trip to the park to see the ducks and here is Ben teaching Jade to say "Duck." It is the cutest thing I have ever seen, watch the way she looks at her Daddy!

We also swang on the swings that day and Jade thought it was absolutely hilarious when I would get near her...

I Can Crawl!

Watch Jade's crawling....aw she is mobile now and she gets faster and faster everyday! I have a hard time just keeping up with her!

She is even faster on hardwood floors!!

And now her latest trick is standing up to EVERYTHING!!

And then grabbing things and holding them up so proudly!!

New Snacks

As you know, Jadee loves food. We tried some new snacks and she loves them!

Here is her in the car eating her celery. The perfect snack I think because she doesn't have enough teeth to bite it, but it is hard and cold and provides a little flavor and keeps her busy for hours!!

Jade loves eggs and I thought I would try to serve them to her on a plate!! He he!! I don't think she is quite ready for plates yet!! Or is it me that is not ready to clean up the major mess afterwards!!!

Say Cheese!! Jade loves her cheese sticks!

Here Mommy, you have some!!

Random Fun, 4th of July & 10 Year High School Reunion!

Can you believe I have been out of high school long enough to have just gone to my 10 year reunion!! Do I look that old!! Well, maybe I do but I certainly don't feel that much older! It was so fun to go to the family BBQ and see all my old friends, some of whom I have not seen since graduation!

I have to say a big thanks to Ben, he let me drag him there and show him and little Jade off! Here are some of the pics from that day.

The next adventure we had that weekend was a big 4th of July celebration in Evanston, the fireworks capital! Since my family is from there, we lit up the sky that night! Here a few highlights:

Ben & his mad roman candle skills

Manda and Maddi

My brother Mitch and Ben being the official pyros!

We also got to see our aunt and uncle and their kids that live in New Mexico. They were up in Evanston for a visit. Jade had never seen her uncle Denten, she went right to him, just jumped in his arms! He was so excited and had to show his whole family.

Grandma Revelli came down for a week to babysit Jade while I had to teach a class to teachers. They had lots of fun together. Jade found Grandma's chocolate drink (empty of course) and knew just what to do with it!

We even got a chance to go visit Great Grandpa Watson while my mom was here. It was great to see Jade with them. She kept jumping from Grandpa to Grandma and back again, I think we wore them out!

Oh how we love the lazy days of summer, just relaxing in the pool with cousins, Lena and Nicole...
