Our First Family Camping Trip

In July we took our first family camping trip/vacation with Jade. It was her first long road trip (longer than 2 hours) and I have to say she did pretty well with all the sitting. We tried to travel during her nap times so that helped a bit. We went up to Lander, Wyoming with my brother's family to a place called Sinks Canyon. It was gorgeous up there and it reminded me how much I missed camping, it had been awhile!

Here is Jade on her first pit stop of the trip at Little America

Going down the slide. She was so funny because she would stop herself halfway down and try to climb out! She is quite the adventurous one!

As part of the trip, Mitch and Manda took us to Thermopolis where there is a natural hot springs. The water was amazing and felt like bath water, I wanted to fall asleep in it! They had some pretty fast water slides that we had a ton of fun on too!

The two cousins, Jade and Maddi had a lot of fun and don't they look adorable in their matching towel dresses that Grandma bought them!

Now it was on to set up camp!! We put the girls in the pack and play so we all could be free to set up camp! They had a blast just being in nature.

"Look Daddy, a bear!"

This is what they called the Sinks. It was this cave where the river of water just disappeared in to. It literally just went into the rock and you don't see it again for about a 1/2 mile down the canyon on the other side of the road. It was so bizarre!

Daddy decided to bury Jade in the sand. This was her first experience touching and playing in the sand and she absolutely loved it! She even tasted some...

Jade went bonkers when we put her in the tent, she kept crawling back and forth, back and forth to every corner. She absolutely loved being in the tent and in her pack and play (which was weird cuz she hates it at home). But there must be something that kids love about being outside. She played in it for hours.

We even got some great shots as she thought she could just go right through the sides!

My favorite!! Tastes good, yummy!

Unfortunately, our camping adventure was cut short due to some rain. But we had a blast anyway and went back to Mitch and Manda's to play some games and we still had tin foil dinners that night!

The girls took a much needed bath after camping. Needless to say they were filthy and I am pretty sure Jade ate her share of dirt!

This was our last pit stop on the way home at a park in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming. They had some great old fashioned toys that we all enjoyed playing on!
Yeehah! Ride 'em cowboy! I think we have a bull rider on our hands...

Even Daddy gave it a go!
After all that playing, this was the result! Jade traveled so well in the car, we may be able to take more vacations! Yeah!

  1. We have a family cabin in Wyoming (I text you on my way home every summer, remember?) and I've been to Thermopolis almost every summer since I can remember! I was so excited that you went to the water park. What a fun trip!
